Group Photo planning
Back in the days before digital photography, wedding photography was normally limited to the signing of the register and a few group photos outside of the church. Nowadays most wedding photographers adopt a story telling approach which covers the whole day and focuses on the more natural moments. Having said this most weddings still have group photos during the day as they are a great record of all your most loved ones on the day.
As this is the one point of the day I will take most of a direct role in I like to make that not only do we create fantastic photos of everyone but that also it is done in a way that is fun and time efficient. Because of this I make sure we secure a list before the wedding date so that I know exactly what you are after. it is completely up to you what groups you would like however I recommend to not choose too many to avoid taking up too much time during your cocktail hour. I have compiled template list you can use or adapt if you wish. I suggest having between 6-8 groups.
Please be specific when listing the people in your group photos, this will help me make sure no one is missed. It can also be a big help if you ask a member of your wedding party before hand to help round people to get things done faster.
