Katie & Tom

Pumping House - August 2023

I'm Danny Jack, your friendly Kent-based wedding photographer, and today, I'm thrilled to share the heartwarming story of Katie and Tom's wedding at the enchanting Pumping House. If you're dreaming of a photographer who specializes in capturing natural moments full of love and laughter, well, you're in the right place. So, let's dive into the magic of Katie and Tom's love-filled celebration!

The Venue: The Pumping House

Nestled in the heart of Sherwood Forest, The Pumping House is a breathtaking blend of historic charm and modern elegance. The red brick building, adorned with distinctive features like arch windows and a glass ceiling, oozes character, creating a truly unique atmosphere for weddings.

=The Pumping House is not your average wedding venue. With a licensed ceremony room, a main hall for wedding breakfasts, 10 luxury suites, and a large lawn for outdoor receptions, it's a versatile space that caters to every couple's dreams. The venue's location, set in three acres of ancient woodlands, provides exceptional opportunities for outdoor enjoyment, from rustic outdoor bars to scavenger hunts in the forest.

The Ollerton Room, with its unique parquet flooring and natural light, sets the stage for wedding ceremonies against a backdrop of forestry and wildlife. The double-height Engine Hall, the largest space in The Pumping House, transforms into a lively center for wedding breakfasts and celebrations, filled with natural light during the day and magical ambiance at night.

For a documentary-style photographer like myself, The Pumping House is a paradise of photo opportunities. From the charming Ollerton Room to the grandeur of the Engine Hall, each space offers a canvas for capturing authentic moments against the backdrop of Sherwood Forest's natural beauty.

Katie and Tom were drawn to The Pumping House for its perfect combination of historic charm and modern amenities. The venue's non-conventional yet slightly formal ambiance resonated with their vision for a unique and unforgettable wedding day.

The Couple

Katie & Tom Meet Katie and Tom, a delightful nerdy couple who share a love for games, films, reading, and cinema—just like me! Their journey started with a coffee date in Reading, and on Christmas Day 2020, Tom proposed in the most magical way, hiding the ring inside Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Their love story is as enchanting as their Pumping House wedding.

The Wedding Day

Katie, adorned in a beautiful dress from Wed2Be, and Tom, excitedly anticipating the presence of his Best Man from Bath, celebrated their love in the unique spaces of The Pumping House. The couple's vision for a family-oriented day with various activities in the smaller rooms came to life. Handmade touches, from paper flower decorations made from favorite books to symbols from beloved games on the wedding cake, added a personal and whimsical touch to the celebration.

If you're on the lookout for a wedding photographer who captures the essence of your love story in a fun and natural way, I'd love to hear from you. Let's chat about how we can make your wedding day memories last a lifetime.
