Katriona & Michael’s Summer Wedding
I'd heard the rumours of what it was like to be a Notley Thythe Wedding Photographer and oh wow this venue did not disappoint. Located in Aylesbury in the Chilstern Hills, Notley Tythe Barn is a gorgeous wedding venue that sits comfortably in a rural countryside landscape. This Barn wedding venue would appeal to any couple and wedding photographer and I had an amazing time from start to finish capturing Katriona & Michael's wedding. I had met up with the happy couple before the wedding for an engagement shoot, we had an absolute blast taking photos so I was extra excited to capture their wedding at Notley Tythe Barn.
Below I have an included a few of my favourite photos from the day, both individually and as a slideshow. I've also written about just why I think Notley Tythe is the perfect venue for your countryside wedding and how to get the best photos. If you've come across this page because you're on the lookout for a Notley Tythe wedding photographer then welcome! I'm Danny and I'm a natural and laid back wedding photographer based in Kent. If you'd like to find out more about what I do you can check out my full portfolio, have a look at my pricing or get in touch for a brochure.
About Notley Tythe
Nick and Denise Reynolds, the owners of this stunning 12th-century barn, restored it back in 1991. Notley Tythe still has all the classic barn elements such as its rafted roof and rural interior. The Reynolds family themselves have actually been farming Notley for over 350 years now which is pretty incredible! Since 1991 they have hosted over 2000 weddings so they certainly know what they’re doing. My whole time I was there I couldn’t help but notice how welcoming and friendly all the staff were and it’s lovely to see the wedding couple in such safe hands. For couples who want to enjoy the outdoors and a countryside backdrop for their wedding day then Notley Tythe Barn is a great option. There is plenty of space outsides for guests to mingle and enjoy the sunshine. The gardens themselves have been redesigned by a Chelsea Gold Medal winning landscape architect.
Getting Ready for the wedding
Katriona and Michael were married in August of 2018 and the weather was just perfect. Katriona got ready with her bridesmaids at the Oxfordshire Golf Hotel Spa which made for an excellent space for everyone to relax in in the morning. It was a lot of fun getting to know everyone and capturing some fantastic moments in the morning whilst everyone got their hair and makeup done. Katirona looked amazing in her wedding dress and once everyone was ready it was time to head off to the church.
The Ceremony at St Nicholas' Church
Although Notley Tythe Barn does host wedding ceremonies, Katriona and Michael held their ceremony at the picturesque St Nicholas' Church in Aylesbury. This was especially important to them as it was Katirona's Aunt who conducted the ceremony and declared them man and wife. This was really special and something I'm sure they'll remember as a big highlight of their wedding day. We had two wedding photographers on the day, myself and my second shooter Rebecca Louise so we’re able to capture all the action whilst remaining unobtrusive throughout. After some confetti and a few photos at the church, it was off to Notley Tythe Barn for the reception.
Wedding Photography at Notley Tythe Barn
On the way to the venue, I and the newlyweds stopped at one of the many fields on the way for some quick couple shots. Wedding photographers are spoilt for choice around here and everywhere you look is vast and epic backdrops for your wedding photos. The gardens just in front of the venue are also a great option for family portraits.
Wedding Reception at Notley Tythe Barn
After a fantastic meal and some hilarious speeches, guests were able to head back outside to enjoy the last of the summer sun, everyone had a fantastic time and we even had a game of football. I took the bride and groom off for a few more couple shots before heading backside in to cut the cake and hit the dancefloor. Everyone danced the night away to some great music provided by the DJ. Thank you so much to Katriona and Michael for having me on their special day.
